Work at 11th Street and Canyon Boulevard starting Thursday, May 15.
The City of Boulder will begin crucial sanitary sewer and stormwater utility maintenance work at 11th Street and Canyon Boulevard starting Thursday, May 15. Work will take place during daytime hours and is expected to continue through Thursday, June 13, and is being coordinated with a nearby Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) pavement rehabilitation project.
These efforts will require temporary traffic changes and limited access in parts of the downtown area, including over Memorial Day weekend, with the goal of protecting water quality in Boulder Creek by performing this preventive maintenance. Impacts include:
- Westbound lanes on Canyon Boulevard between Broadway and 9th Street will be closed during construction.
- All traffic will be diverted to the eastbound lanes, with one lane open in each direction.
- Access to the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building and Boulder Main Library Canyon Lot will be right-turn-in and right-turn-out only from the eastbound lane.
“We understand how impactful this type of work can be on our community members and downtown businesses,” said Chris Douglas, Utilities Engineering Senior Manager. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we complete these infrastructure upgrades to improve long-term utility service in downtown Boulder.”
The City of Boulder will provide regular construction impact updates on its
Cone Zones webpage. Visit CDOT’s website for more information and to sign up for project email updates on the state pavement rehabilitation project on Colorado Highway 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive) and Colorado Highway 7 (Canyon Boulevard) through downtown Boulder.
